What are the steps I need to follow for terminating my lease?
When the time comes to say goodbye to Deerfield Commons, please provide the Leasing office with written notice at least 2 full-calendar months before your lease-ending date.
If you decide you need to terminate your lease before the agreed upon lease-ending date, you must contact the Leasing office immediately. There will be a termination fee equivalent to two months rent that must be paid upon official notification, and you will remain responsible for rent payments on the lease for the required notice period of two calendar months. Notice is not considered valid until it is received in writing to the Leasing Office.
What should I do when I’m moving out?
- Remember to call the utility companies to suspend service in your name. The electric will return to Deerfield Common’s name.
- Remember to schedule to have your carpet shampooed by an outside company and give the office a copy of the receipt.
- We will provide you with other instructions about the condition of your unit when you sign your termination notice.
